Wildwood – Atlantic City, NJ, Airshow for 2025 is NOT a Done Deal
There are wide spread reports about Wildwood, New Jersey taking over the Atlantic City Airshow for 2025.
This is not say that this won’t ultimately happen … however, well placed sources have advised that it is not yet a done deal.
We have reached out to Michael Chait, President of The Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce for comment.
Chait will be providing us with The Chamber’s official position later today. We will add Chait’s public remarks here when we receive them.
Long-time Wildwood Mayor and Commissioner Ernie Troiano posted the following on social media:
“There is nothing signed and a number of hurdles to overcome before anything is done. Don't put the cart in front of the horse,” wrote Troiano.
An Atlantic City area source told us:
“The United States Air Force (USAF) does not sign contracts like that. All USAF assets may already be assigned to other Airshows as schedules were announced in December.”
The Atlantic City Airshow was the most successful mid-week air show in American history, (for more than 20 years), drawing as many as 500,000 spectators At any one time.
This article is absolutely not about putting Wildwood down. Wildwood does a great job with live events, i.e., summer beach concerts, etc.
No doubt, Wildwood can do a great job with this event.
However, Wildwood will need to successfully navigate the labyrinth required to stage a comprehensive air show of this nature.
We wish them well.
Below is a link to my colleague Eddie Davis’ excellent reporting on this topic and prospects for Wildwood to try and land the Atlantic City Airshow.
