WOAH! The Powerball Jackpot Is Now Worth 1.7 Billion Dollars!
Let's talk about the lottery, specifically the Powerball game which now has the second-largest jackpot in U.S. history. According to Powerball.com "Powerball Jackpot Spikes to $1.73 Billion, Second-Largest Jackpot in U.S. History." There were no winners on Monday night so the suspense continues to Wednesday night. Let's talk a little about Powerball and who where and when the games occur.
Powerball is truly a national lottery game. "Powerball is played in 45 states, Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands! Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. Sales cut-off times vary by one to two hours before the drawing, depending on the selling jurisdiction."
According to Powerball "Wednesday’s estimated jackpot ranks as the second-largest Powerball jackpot and U.S. lottery jackpot, only behind the world record $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot won in California on November 7, 2022." Imagine what you would do with just a fraction of this jackpot, let alone a prize of 1.7 billion dollars. "If a player wins the jackpot on Wednesday night, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize worth an estimated $1.73 billion or a lump sum payment estimated at $756.6 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year."
According to NJ Lottery, the numbers drawn Monday night were 16 34 46 55 67 14 x3 and the double play numbers were 01 20 33 49 59 10
