A woman lost her life in Longport on Sunday when a man backed his vehicle into her.

Longport Police report that at 12:59 Sunday afternoon, they responded to the area of Pacific and Yarmouth Avenues for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that Edward Werbany, 86, of Blackwood, who was driving a Ford F-150 at the time of collision, backed into a pedestrian. The victim, Lillian Myers, 85, of Stratford, lost her life as a result of the collision.

At that same time, 6ABC reports a vehicle crashed into a house at Yarmouth and the 3200 block of Pacific Avenue in Longport. It's not immediately clear if the woman was in the house or outside at the time she was hit by the vehicle.
