Two men from Atlantic City are facing charges after they were arrested in the city Wednesday afternoon following a drug deal. The arrests stem from an anonymous tip that was texted to police by a concerned citizen.

The ACPD says around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, detectives were conducting surveillance in the 2300 block of Arctic Avenue, acting on a tip sent in by a citizen who was complaining about drug distribution on the block.

Cops say they observed a drug transaction take place between 18-year-old Jorge Herrera and 38-year-old Jose Diaz, both of Atlantic City. After the drug deal, Diaz was stopped in a vehicle, taken into custody, and found to be in possession of marijuana.

As detectives returned to locate Herrera, he was scene leaving a house and was arrested without incident. Authorities say he was found to be in possession of a handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. A later search of his residence turned up additional marijuana.

In total, detectives recovered 210 grams of marijuana, a scale, baggies used to package marijuana, and $503 in cash.

Herrera has been charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession with intent to distribute CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS within 1,000 feet of a school zone, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Herrera was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Diaz was charged with possession of CDS and released on a summons with a future court date.
