Two South Jersey residents have been arrested, via a sheriff's department in Virginia, on theft and fraud charges.

Hamilton Township Police say on September 28th, they received a call from the Fauquier County (Virginia) Sheriff’s Department in regards to a fraud investigation. The fraudulent activity included victims being scammed into purchasing Best Buy gift cards, which the victims would send electronically to the suspects. The fraudulently obtained gift cards, valued at over $8,000, were used to make purchases at Best Buy in Mays Landing.

As a result of the investigation two suspects were identified as 34-year-old Yanping Ye and 45-year-old Wang Tang of Galloway.

On October 18th, Hamilton Township Police charged Ye with three counts of: theft by deception, fraudulent use of a credit card, and money laundering. Ye was also charged with one count of: conspiracy to commit theft by deception, conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of a credit card, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Tang was charged with one count of: theft by deception, fraudulent use of a credit card, money laundering, conspiracy to commit theft by deception, conspiracy to commit fraudulent use of a credit card, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Both were released on a summons pending court.
