A published report says a 13-year-old boy was fatally shot in Salem County late Thursday night.

According to NJ.com, the boy was shot in front of a home on 9th Street in Salem around 10:30 PM.

He was unresponsive when police arrived at the scene and was later pronounced dead at Salem Medical Center, the prosecutor said.

As of late Friday afternoon, additional details had not been released and no arrests had been made.

Salem City School District Superintendent Patrick Michel, who did not confirm if the child was a student in the district, said to NJ.com, "it’s an unimaginable loss and I pray God’s grace be upon them."
