A 16-year-old is facing charges after Atlantic City cops arrested him for an attempted armed robbery.

The ACPD says their officers responded to the 1500 block of Reading Avenue around 11:00 Monday night for a report of an attempted armed robbery. The victim, identified as a 47-year-old man from Lindenwold, was walking when he was approached by two juveniles on bikes. One juvenile approached the victim and pulled a handgun from his sweatshirt pocket, according to police. The victim managed to get away before anything was taken.

An officer later observed a juvenile matching the suspect’s description at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Arctic Avenue and stopped him. The juvenile, a 16-year-old male from Atlantic City, was arrested after being found in possession of a loaded handgun that was recovered from his sweatshirt pocket.

The teen has been charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
