2.4 Earthquake Registered Near Little Egg Harbor Wednesday Morning
A magnitude 2.4 earthquake was registered in the Tuckerton-Little Egg Harbor area Wednesday morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 2.4 earthquake was recorded in the western part of Little Egg Harbor between South Green Street and Great Bay Blvd. off of Little Egg Harbor at about 7:52 Wednesday morning.
Wednesday morning's quake was centered about three miles below the earth's surface.
Ocean County Sheriff Mike Mastronardy told the Townsquare News Network that their dispatch received a call about a house in Little Egg Harbor shaking. Social media posts also indicate that people in Stafford Township felt it, too.

There were no immediate reports of any damage.
While not common, New Jersey does experience some earthquakes occasionally. A 3.1 quake was felt in central parts of New Jersey about nine months ago. A 2.0 quake registered just off-shore of Brigantine in June, 2019. A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was centered near Dover, DE, at the end of November, 2017.
