It's almost back to school time in South Jersey! But before you trade in your flip flops and sunscreen for backpacks and pencils, here are a few pre-back to school tips you'll want to follow before the first day of school.

Start getting your sleep schedule back on track!

I know, I know, this is probably one of the things you’re least looking forward to, but you’ve gotta do it. Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the most important things you’ll need to do to have a good school year. Not saying that you have to wake up at 6 a.m. just yet! But maybe start going to bed at an earlier time and not sleeping in until 3 p.m. (I know you’ve done it!)

Make sure you’re on top of your summer reading!

*Two days before the first day of school* “GAH!! Summer reading! I totally forgot! What books did we have to read?? What do we have to write about?!”

There’s ALWAYS one. Don’t be that student. Now’s the time you want to make sure you’re on track with that.

    Don't Skip Orientation

This is for you newbies attending middle school, high school, or college for the first time. Orientation equips you with the knowledge and preparation that you’ll need before taking on your brave new world. And the information is actually pretty dang important, so don’t skip them! Plus, you can get a jump start on making new friends. Trust me, you’ll be glad you went.

Get a New Wardrobe/Declutter your room

Start the new year fresh with some new clothes and declutter all the junk you’ve accumulated over the last school year. Make room for the new you! You may even consider remodeling your bedroom. Switch things up a bit! I used to do this before the start of every school year and it made me feel rejuvenated and refreshed before taking on the new school year. Give it a try!

Make last summer plans with friends

Yeah, remember when you wrote “HAGS! Let’s hang out this summer!” in your friend’s school yearbooks? Maybe actually do that. There’s still time to make summer memories before it’s time to hit the books again. Have fun!!
