A 16-year-old man from Atlantic City has been arrested in the city in connection to the sexual assault of a 14-year-old earlier this month.

Cops say the teen was arrested in the 800 block of Indiana Avenue around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon. When he was arrested, he was found to be in possession of a loaded gun.

According to police, the arrest stems from an investigation that started on on May 11th when a 14-year-old male said he had been sexually assaulted inside an abandoned property in the 1800 block of Marmora Avenue. The suspect was said to be in possession of a handgun at the time of the assault.

The teen was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon. He was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.
