With a very important game coming up tonight against the New York Rangers, the Flyers have elected to turn to rookie Alex Lyon in goal over veteran Petr Mrazek.

The game has plenty of playoff implications, they have fallen into the wild card spot and are just five points out of a playoff spot altogether, so Lyon is being thrust in the middle of a very important game tonight.

Lyon replaced a struggling Mrazek on Tuesday and allowed one goal on 12 shots in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss. He enters tonight's game with the Rangers with a 3-2-1 record this season, a 2.42 goals-against average and .914 save percentage over nine appearances..

As for the disappointing Mrazek, who was pulled in his return to Detroit, his former team, allowing three goals on 19 shots in just two periods.

In other goalie news, Michal Neuvirth has been practicing with the team and could return to action shortly.
