It appears that at least three protests are planned in Galloway Township between today and this weekend.

According to the Galloway Township Police Department on Facebook, a protest is planned for 1PM today (Tuesday) at the municipal complex, followed two more this coming Saturday and Sunday, both in the early afternoon hours.

In a post, Chief Donna Higbee said,

We fully support the right to peaceful protest and the first amendment. As a police department and police officers we are saddened and angered by the death of George Floyd and we support peaceful protest and prayerful vigils in his memory and in all those that have lost their lives to evil. We will not tolerate any acts of violence or property damage and we are here for our community and business owners. We are a very professional police department that has always strived to be one with the community. We will stand with those peaceful protestors and we will pray with them for peace and justice. We are here to listen, learn and do better as law enforcement and we are here to protect and to serve.

The protests in Galloway come as another protest is scheduled today along the Route 52 bridge between Somers Point and Ocean City and a protest yesterday in Middle Township at the intersection of Routes 9 and 47. Those peaceful protests followed a protest in Atlantic City Sunday that turned violent. In that event, dozens of stores were vandalized and looted along The Walk; 17 people were arrested.

Demonstrations in New Jersey were largely peaceful last Saturday as crowds of masked protestors carried signs and marched in solidarity against the death of George Floyd under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer.
