HAMILTON (Atlantic) — An overturned tractor trailer closed the Atlantic City Expressway on Sunday afternoon.

New Jersey State Police said eastbound traffic was being diverted off at Exit 28 for Route 54 in Hammonton as of 2:20 p.m. for clean up of the overturn by a hazardous materials team. CBS Philly reported the truck was a tanker truck but did not know what it was carrying.

Brenden Shur tweeted that he could smell gasoline

There were no serious injuries, according to police.

The overturn took place in front of the Farley Service Area which remained accessible for westbound travelers.

Detoured drivers can take Route 54 south to Route 322 (Black Horse Pike) east to Route 50 north and re-enter the Expressway. Route 50 is an EZ Pass only exit.
