Jury Finds Atlantic City, NJ, Man Guilty in Fatal Hit-and-run
An Atlantic City man has been found guilty in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident in 2022.
On Tuesday, an Atlantic County jury found 28-year-old Harris Jacobs guilty of second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident.
Details of the Fatal Crash
At around 3:30 on the morning of September 4th, 2022, authorities say Jacobs struck and killed 76-year-old Orlando Fraga, also from Atlantic City, on the 1800 block of Atlantic Avenue in the World's Play Ground.
Surveillance Video Played Key Role
Surveillance video showed that Jacobs got out of his car, walked to Fraga, and on two separate occasions, leaned over his body lying in the roadway. Jacobs then returned to his vehicle and drove away. He never notified law enforcement.
This fatal crash investigation was a cooperative effort by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Crash Investigations Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department.
