Atlantic City, N.J. — An Atlantic City man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in the World's Play Ground last week.

Fatal Shooting on Hamilton Avenue

The scene unfolded around 9:30 Wednesday night, April 22nd, when Atlantic City Police Department officers were called to an apartment on the 2200 block of Hamilton Avenue for a report of a shooting.

An investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and the ACPD revealed that 22-year-old Jaylou Marlenne Pineda Lopez of Atlantic City had suffered a gunshot wound and was subsequently pronounced dead.

On Wednesday, a judge authorized charges against 26-year-old Franklin J. Felipe De La Paz, also from Atlantic City, for aggravated manslaughter and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine.

Suspect Arrested

On Thursday, April 30th, Felipe De La Paz was arrested in Pleasantville by the prosecutor's office, the Atlantic City and Pleasantville Police Departments, the United States Marshals Service, and Homeland Security Investigations.

Authorities say their investigation is ongoing.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
