An Atlantic City man is facing a list of charges following a traffic stop last Saturday night in Absecon.

The Absecon Police Department says one of their officers stopped a vehicle on Delilah Road around 8:30 last Saturday night for speeding on the White Horse Pike. The officer, according to a press release, while talking to several people inside the vehicle, detected an odor of a controlled dangerous substances coming from inside. The front seat passenger, 27-year-old Lamar J. Cherry of Atlantic City, was found to be in possession of a .45 caliber handgun and a quantity of suspected marijuana.

Cops say after a brief struggle, Cherry was taken into custody and taken to the police station while the other two people from the vehicle were issued summonses and released.

Cherry was charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of Marijuana over 50 grams, Distribution of CDS, and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged into the Atlantic County Jail.
