Atlantic City, NJ Police Recover Two Guns, Arrest 3 Individuals
The Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Department has taken two more guns off of the street in pursuit of making the casino city a safer place to live, work and play.
It is essential that they win this fight, as Atlantic City is presently in a protracted slump … That has resulted in numerous groups canceling upcoming business and vacations in Atlantic City.
The latest incidents took place on Friday, August 30, 2024 as follows:
On August 30, 2024, at 9:05 PM, patrol officers responded to the 100 block of north New Jersey Avenue for a report of a man pointing a firearm at juveniles. Sergeant Garry Stowe learned that there were several teenagers on a porch when a neighbor approached and pointed a handgun at them. A description of the suspect and his vehicle was obtained. Sergeant Stowe went to the address and spoke with the neighbor, Haneef Bashir. Bashir matched the description of the suspect and a loaded handgun was found inside his vehicle by Officer Zayon Pitts. Bashir was arrested without incident, said the Atlantic City Police Department.
It continued at 9:22 p.m., when Atlantic City Police Officers ”Adrianna Petinga, Isabella Rando, Gissell Garcia, and Franco Sydnor responded to Bally's Atlantic City for an unattended infant left in a hotel room. Security personnel reported that the occupants of the room, Jequan Campbell and Teeah McCall, had requested items from housekeeping,” said the Atlantic City Police.
A hotel housekeeper entered the room. Campbell and McCall were not there at the time. The housekeeper saw that an infant sleeping in a crib and notified hotel security staff.
”Campbell and McCall were located and taken into custody. Campbell was found in possession of a handgun. Medical personnel responded to evaluate the infant. The New Jersey Department of Child Protection & Permanency was notified,” said the Atlantic City Police Department.
ARRESTED: Haneef Bashir, 45, of Atlantic City.
CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful pur-pose, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and aggravated assault.
Bashir is presently at the Atlantic County Jail.
ARRESTED: Jequan Campbell, 33, of Erwin, NC.
CHARGES: Endangering the welfare of children, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of hollow-point ammunition.
Campbell is presently at the Atlantic County Jail.
ARRESTED: Teeah McCall, 33, of Erwin, NC.
CHARGES: Endangering the welfare of chil-dren.
McCall was released on a summons with a future court date.
