The Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Department has arrested a Galloway man in Egg Harbor City, who is suspected of robbery.

This all began when the Atlantic City Police Department received information that a wanted man was on a train … who was found with a loaded handgun.

According to the Atlantic City Police Department:

On August 26, 2024, Manuel Alicea was arrested by members of the Egg Harbor City Police Department on a New Jersey Transit train. Alicea was wanted for his involvement in a robbery that occurred in Atlantic City.

On August 14, Alicea was charged following an investigation into the assault of a man who was struck with a handgun causing injuries in the 1100 block of Arctic Avenue. After striking the victim with the handgun, Alicea stole the victim's belongings and attempted to steal his bicycle. The victim was treated at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division.

Today, Detective Nicholas Berardis received information that Alicea was at the Atlantic City Train Station in the company of a woman. Patrol officers responded and searched the train station and a waiting train. The officers learned that another train had recently departed heading towards Absecon.

The train had departed the Absecon station before police officers arrived.

The train arrived in Egg Harbor City where officers held the train as it was searched. Chief Marcella Alywin, Lieutenant Zach Perna and Officers Darryl Fonville and Brian McKenna located Alicea and took him into custody. He was found in possession of a loaded handgun.

The New Jersey Transit Police and Absecon Police Department assisted in the search for Alicea.

"This is a great example of the strong relationships that have been formed by law enforcement in Atlantic County," said Atlantic City Police Chief James Sarkos. "An armed, violent offender was arrested due to the coordination and teamwork of not only the police officers from the involved agencies, but also the public safety telecommunicators in the respective towns working hand in hand to provided needed information,” said Sarkos.
