Beginning Tuesday, officials in Atlantic County will be testing both symptomatic and asymptomatic county residents for COVID-19.

The testing, which takes place at the public works complex on Route 9 in Northfield, will be open to people with or without a prescription.

While testing is becoming more widely available, an appointment is still required; visit the county's website for more information.

Authorities say more than 2,200 county residents have been tested to date with 77% testing negative.

On Thursday, county health officials confirmed the death of a 94-year-old Galloway woman from complications of COVID-19 along with 17 new positives between ten men (ages 13 to 77) and seven women (ages 18 to 88). 48 more residents have been cleared as recovered, bringing the total to 1,668 of the 3,072 residents who have been confirmed for COVID-19.
