Bridgeton Man Found Shot to Death in Rural Cumberland County

Authorities in Cumberland County say a Bridgeton man's body was found on the side of a road Thursday morning in Hopewell Township.

Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae says the body of 27-year-old Jose Castro of Bridgeton was found near a field along Barretts Run Road between Greenwich and Atkinson Roads.

Cops say it appears Castro was shot to death but an autopsy will be performed.

The crime is currently being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit of the New Jersey State Police.
