Vineland Man Charged With Murder After Father Found Dead in Bridgeton
Bridgeton, N.J. — A Vineland man has been charged with murdering his own father after police responding to a complaint about a foul odor discovered the victim's decomposing body inside a Bridgeton residence Sunday afternoon.
Son Charged
28-year-old Anttoine W. Williams is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his father, 67-year-old Anthony Williams of Bridgeton.
Prosecutors allege Williams stabbed his father on or about July 15, then tampered with evidence in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Body Found Four Days Later
Bridgeton Police were called to the unit block of Fayette Street around 12:15 Sunday afternoon after a neighbor reported a bad odor coming from a home. Officers arrived to find Anthony Williams dead inside, his body in a state of decomposition.
The subsequent investigation identified his son as the suspect.
Charges
In addition to two counts of first-degree murder, purposeful and knowing, Anttoine Williams faces third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree tampering with evidence. The weapon in question is a knife.
