A Bridgeton man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a child over the course of a decade.

Juan Hernandez-Antonio of Bridgeton, NJ, Sentenced

The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office says on Friday, 39-year-old Juan Hernandez-Antonio was sentenced to ten years in state prison after pleading guilty to a charge of first-degree aggravated sexual assault.

According to officials, in April 2022, Hernandez-Antonio was charged with several counts of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child in connection to "multiple incidents that occurred over an approximately ten-year period."

It was during that time that Hernandez-Antonio sexually assaulted a child who was under the age of 13 when the abuse started.

Hernandez-Antonio will be required to serve 85%, or 8 1/2 years, of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. When he is released, he will be required to register as a sex offender and will be under parole supervision for life.

The lead investigator was Det. Marna Coyne of the Bridgeton Police Department. The prosecution was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Holly Fanelle at sentencing. The defendant was represented by Christine Long, Esq.
