Police say a Bridgeton man was killed before sunrise when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no passing zone.

According to Bridgeton Police, 52-year-old George S. Mack of Bridgeton, was traveling south on North Pearl Street behind another vehicle. Mack attempted to pass that vehicle in a no passing zone; that's when he lost control of his GMC Envoy near Rose Street. Police say his SUV jumped a curb and hit a utility pole. The impact caused the SUV to roll onto its drivers side and then it stopped upright in the roadway.

Cops say Mack was pronounced dead at the scene.
