Can This Man Break a 50-Year Hold of U.S. Senator for New Jersey?
No Republican has won a United States Senate seat for New Jersey in more than 50 years.
It’s hard to figure out why. The voters of New Jersey alternate between Democrat and Republican Governor’s with great regularity over this same half century.
Curtis Bashaw gives Republicans their best chance in more than 50 years to win on November 5, 2024.
Bashaw has been infatiguable during this campaign. He has driven more than 80,000 miles during the race for the United States Senate.
New Jersey is one of the most densely populated states in America, with 21 Counties and more than 9 million residents.
Bashaw received an important endorsement yesterday when the New Jersey State Troopers Fraternal Association formally endorsed his campaign versus Democrat challenger Andy Kim.
Bashaw has showcased his pedigree as a successful hotel resort developer and businessman, who has created more than 1,000 jobs.
Candidates who regularly sign the front of a check are appealing versus those who have spent their entire lives only signing the back of checks that they cash.
The seat is open on the regular 6-year cycle, but, also because former United States Senator Bob Menendez has been convicted of bribery and corruption charges.
George Helmy, the former Chief of Staff for New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy was appointed (by Murphy) to hold the seat until the voters select a new United States Senator on November 5, 2024.
Helmy is a consummate gentleman and professional. He has promised to vacate the seat immediately upon this year’s election results being certified.
Governor Murphy holds Andy Kim in such low regard that he did not appoint him to be the United States Senator.
That would have given Kim a big advantage as he runs against Bashaw.
Bashaw has forged a path to earn his Republican base, while genuinely appealing to independent voters and even disaffected Democrats.
Bashaw has the potential to cobble the broadest coalition of voters of any Republican candidate in 5-plus decades.
In New Jersey, there are still more registered Democrats than Republicans … and, there are more independent and unaffiliated voters than Democrats and Republicans.
The majority of independent and unaffiliated voters have typically voted Democrat … making it very difficult for a Republican to win a statewide, United States Senate seat.
Bashaw has put the hard work in and his effort s may reverse this long-held New Jersey trend.
