Car stop leads to gun and drug charges in Atlantic City, NJ
A traffic stop in the World's Play Ground earlier this week ended with an Atlantic City man facing a long list of gun and drug charges.
Just before 8:00 Tuesday evening, May 28th, four ACPD detectives were patrolling Pacific Avenue when they conducted a motor vehicle stop at Arkansas Avenue.
They say during the stop, K9 Officer Melvin Murray and his K9 partner Jynx arrived and the dog gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
During a search, police say they found a bookbag that contained a loaded handgun, 18 grams of cocaine, 43 grams of marijuana, and paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics.
Anthony Ford, Jr., of Atlantic City, NJ, Charged
20-year-old Anthony Ford, Jr., of Atlantic City, was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- Unlawful possession of a weapon
- Possession of hollow-point ammunition
- Possession of a defaced firearm
- Possession of a large-capacity magazine
- Unlawful possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense
- Possession of CDS
- 2 counts of possession of CDS with intent to distribute
- Possession of CDS paraphernalia
Ford was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
