Chesney Wasn’t First Country Singer to Put Wildwood In Spotlight

Believe it or not, Kenny Chesney wasn't the first current country star to shine a spotlight on Wildwood.

Chesney's 2012 free beach concert will always be remembered as the kick-starter of country music beach concerts in South Jersey. A couple years after Chesney's show, Atlantic City began it's beach concerts with the likes of Blake Shelton, Lady A, and many more.

Wildwood Beach was the setting for a rainy July 4, 2016 concert. It also would have played host to the Barefoot Country Music Fest this year, had the pandemic not wiped out life as we know it. (The Barefoot Country Music Fest is - so far - on for the summer of 2021)

The first current country music star to hit Wildwood, though, wasn't via a concert. It was by way of a music video filmed mostly along the water, boardwalk and piers of Wildwood. Jason Aldean recorded his, "Laughed Until We Cried" music video in 2007. Morey's Piers plays a prominent role in the colorful backgrounds of the video:
