- Mark Davis of Vineland faces weapons and drug charges
Wildwood, N.J. — Parents and caregivers are being urged to stay alert after police seized colorful, uniquely shaped methamphetamine in Wildwood that may resemble children's vitamins or candy.
The warning comes after Wildwood police officers responded to the 200 block of East Spencer Avenue on September 17th for a report of an individual with a handgun.
Officers identified the suspect as 36-year-old Mark Davis of Vineland. A search warrant executed on his vehicle turned up the colorful meth and a handgun, per officials.
The Cape May County Forensic Laboratory confirmed that the substances tested positive for methamphetamine.
Davis was charged with second-degree possession of a weapon, second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and third-degree possession of CDS.
A Warning to Parents
Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy are urging parents and caregivers to be especially vigilant.
The colorful and uniquely shaped appearance of the drug may attract children who do not recognize the danger posed by the substance, increasing the risk of accidental ingestion.
Anyone with information about illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office at (609) 465-1135.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
