Cumberland County Sex Offender Released Due to Mistrial

A tier 3 registered sex offender has been released from custody after the result of a mistrial declaration to address his most recent charges.

Thomas Pierson stood trial for multiple charges regarding criminal sexual contact and assault involving an incident that occurred at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland where he was allegedly seen on camera assaulting an elderly patient.

Due to the prosecution's inclusion of statements that were considered inadmissible to the case, the judge eventually came back with a declaration of mistrial.

NJ.com states the judge did put the case back on a pre-trial status and a new hearing is scheduled for this Friday.
