
Atlantic County, NJ, Community Leader Dies Suddenly At Age 56
Life is so precious and tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Such is the case, with Atlantic County, New Jersey community and business leader Mitchell Gurwicz, who passed away suddenly earlier this week while in Florida. Gurwicz was only 56 years old.
Gurwicz was a respected attorney, business executive, and community leader and a a lifelong resident of Atlantic County, New Jersey.

Mitchell Gurwicz was an integral leader of a prominent second-generation company, which is one of South Jersey's most established real estate and development companies.

Mitchell Gurwicz was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey and had deep roots in the Atlantic County area.
Mitchell served the family business, Max Gurwicz & Son, Inc., where he focused on the company's commercial operations and he also acted as the in-house legal counsel.
Mitchell Gurwicz — The Lawyer
Mitchell Gurwicz is a graduate of the Widener University School of Law. He was a member of both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Bar Associations.
Gurwicz possessed extensive expertise in use law, real estate, and complex contractual matters.
In addition to all the above, Mitchell Gurwicz also played a significant role as follows:
- large-scale development projects.
- leasing.
- finance.
- operational strategy.
Mitchell Gurwicz contributed materially to his family company and community, where he helped to lead projects that have contributed to the growth of the South Jersey area’s residential and commercial sectors.
Mitchell Gurwicz — The Philanthropist
Mitchell Gurwicz wasn’t just “all business.” He was a champion regarding his philanthropy in Atlantic County.
Gurwicz quietly went about helping South Jersey area charities like Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, Gilda’s Club and others.
Mitchell’s generosity was significant, however, he always made his contributions without asking for public credit.
Mitchell Gurwicz believed that true philanthropy comes from doing it … without wanting any recognition for doing so.
Mitchell Gurwicz has served as President of The Board of Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
Gurwicz was actively involved in numerous charitable organizations, where he focused his attention and philanthropy to support families, housing, and various social services.
Mitchell Gurwicz previously served on the Shore Medical Center Foundation Board and he served on the Linwood Planning Board because he believed in giving back to his own community.
Harbor Pines Golf Club
Mitchell Gurwicz led the substantial renovations at the Harbor Pines Golf Club.
Mitchell’s vision has led to a vibrant golf club, with a perfectly integrated residential component.
We held several of our annual “Hurley in the Morning” Charity Golf Open’s at the Harbor Pines Golf Club.
Mitchell Gurwicz Lived Life The Right Way
You will only now begin to learn everything that Mitchell Gurwicz did in life … now that he is gone.
Mitchell Gurwicz played a meaningful role in helping to shape the present and future of Atlantic County. He did so by dedicating his life to honoring a longstanding Gurwicz family tradition of leadership, philanthropy, and community involvement.
