Dangerous, as New Jersey & National Judges Make Own Laws
OPINION - EDITORIAL
A dangerous practice has been taking place with increasing regularity and it’s dangerous for our Republic.
Judges are reaching beyond their constitutional authority and now believe that they can craft their own laws.
It’s not new, but, it is becoming more and more prevalent.
For example, when Christie Whitman was Governor of New Jersey, she “borrowed” funds from the police pension fund.
If a citizen did this in the private sector, they would be criminally charged and when convicted, they would serve serious jail time.
In Whitman’s case, the New Jersey Supreme Court ruled that she was wrong and the penalty was that she should not do it, again in the future.
Yesterday, on Monday, September 16, 2024, New Jersey Superior Court Judge Michael Blee announced a decision that a special election for the vacant 5th Ward Atlantic City Council seat will take place on November 5, 2024.
New Jersey law calls for a special election to be held within 45-50 days of a vacancy.
This means that the special election should have been held during October, 2024 and not on November 5, 2024.
A special election in October would have kept the matter centric to a local election, consistIng of only the Atlantic City 5th Ward Council vacancy.
Blee decided to create his own law, placing the Atlantic City 5th Ward election on the crowded General Election ballot … which features races for: President, United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, and, numerous County races.
Blee decided to change the entire composition and atmosphere of the 5th Ward Council election.
Blee should be required to answer why he did this?
Look at the various board of elections spending measures that are on the ballot this month. Why didn’t Blee step-in and place all of these multi-million dollar elections on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot?
These elections will be easily controlled, with few people turning out to vote, mostly school parents.
Judicial activism is becoming a big problem in our country.
We need to pay attention to it and do everything legally available to stop it. If not, it’s only going to get worse.
