Drones Still in Atlantic City & all of NJ: Crazy Gov’t Excuses
United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2, has been highly critical of the Biden administration’s total lack of a sense of urgency regarding drones flying for more than 6 weeks … over Atlantic City and all of New Jersey.
Van Drew said yesterday that:
For over a month, people in New Jersey have reported unidentified drones flying over the state. Despite these reports, the administration has downplayed the issue, claiming the sightings cannot be verified and leaving the residents to figure things out on their own. The lack of transparency has been unacceptable. Now, the Federal Aviation Administration announced new restrictions for drones over 22 communities, including over sensitive areas, in New Jersey. They have also authorized the use of 'deadly force' against the drones if they present an 'imminent security threat.' If these drones are a real threat, the public deserves to know what they are, who is operating them, and why they are here. If they are not, then why are flight restrictions over critical infrastructure being authorized?” said Van Drew.
After not commenting at all for weeks, the federal government finally offered that there was nothing to worry about, with no further explanation provided.
That didn’t satisfy the American people’s appetite for a true explanation to what this was all about.
Next, the federal government (Admiral John Kirby) said that some of the drones were commercial drones, some were hobbyist drones and others were legal manned aircraft.
Van Drew publicly ripped Kirby for his response.
Van Drew was the one who made the Department of Defense finally comment publicly about the drones.
The drones first started flying in the nighttime skies in mid-November. The federal government didn’t comment until early December after
Van Drew revealed a new federal government explanation yesterday as follows:
“A new possibility has been proposed that the federal government is only detecting normal aircrafts because unidentified drones are evading detection. They may be evading government detection through the use of frequency skipping, which means the drones switch communication channels rapidly, so they are unable to be traced. To get to the bottom of this, New Jersey and New York are bringing in more advanced detection capabilities to better understand what is happening. People should not be left in the dark. They deserve answers, and they deserve them now,” said Van Drew.
The drone activity has been steady for a few weeks in Atlantic City on a nightly basis.
