Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, man charged in fatal hit-and-run crash
A man from Egg Harbor Township has now been charged in connection to a fatal hit-and-run accident back in February.
39-year-old Shawn P. Duffy is now facing second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash and second-degree vehicular homicide charges.
On the evening of February 6th, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says Duffy was involved in a crash on Steelmanville Road near Beaver Drive in Egg Harbor Township.
Duffy allegedly hit a bicyclist with his pickup truck and then fled the scene.
That bicyclist, 68-year-old Neil G. Burman of Egg Harbor Township, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he sustained.
Authorities say it was later discovered that Duffy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
This accident remains under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crash Investigations Unit and the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
