EHT Man Charged with Witness Tampering in Connection to Kauffman Case
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says 55-year-old John Kachbalian of Egg Harbor Township was arrested on August 30th and charged with first degree witness tampering, third degree invasion of privacy, and fourth degree cyber-harassment.
The Press of Atlantic City reports Kachbalian is a former member of the Pagans motorcycle gang and the charges are related to several recent Facebook posts that talked about the upcoming April Kauffman murder trial. Posts included information about the trial of Ferdinand Augello, who is charged with the murder of April Kauffman and attempted murder of Dr. James Kauffman, and a sexually explicit photo purported to be of co-defendant Beverly Augello.
In a press release, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said, "Witnesses are integral to prosecuting cases and bringing criminals to justice. Anyone who attempts to threaten, intimidate, or otherwise interfere with witnesses to crimes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
Kachbalian was arrested at his home on Swift Avenue and is currently being lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
