Entertainers at 80 Years Old Going Strong in Atlantic City, Beyon

Tom Cantone is the President of Sports & Entertainment for Mohegan Gaming Entertainment (MGE).

Cantone has booked more entertainment acts over the past 40 years then any other living person in America and likely beyond.

Cantone books all entertainment at the Mohegan properties, including Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

We caught-up with Cantone over weekend about the fact that many of today’s performers are 80 years old and beyond.

Make no mistake about it, Cantone also books all of today’s younger acts … however, it can’t be denied regarding the longevity and durability of the legends, who are still performing in their 8th decade of life.

It’s extraordinary.

About this phenomenon, Cantone said:

Look how 6 decades later the 80's artists that are still selling out today's venues are the same ones that gave birth to when music of the 60's was its "most important era of rock n roll" according to Rolling Stone. While I book today's hottest, it's the past that continues to rule the concert stages across America.

So when you enter to Mohegan Sun Arena you've got
"A Great Past Ahead of You"... said Cantone.

Further, Cantone added:

Just these last 5 Artist all in their 80's now that have recently played Mohegan Sun, collectively have sold half a billion records in a time when people actually had to buy them...and have drawn more than 32,000 people to our venue, that does not include Felix Cavalieri of the Rascals who also played at Resorts in AC".
And I might add besides the baby boomers, the crowds coming to see them are all ages.
When Rolling Stone magazine published their 500 greatest songs of all time, 1960s had the most with 185, the Beatles having the most of any artist at 23. This is why their music and popularity will never die, said Cantone.

Before we finished our recent interview with Cantone, he added that Ringo Starr of The Beatles fame will be performing soon at Mohegan Sun at the ripe, young age of 84.

This appears to prove what many agree with … that being a musician or entertainer keeps you young.
