A ‘Fairly Ridiculous’ Poll Shows Close Race For NJ Governor
Election polling in New Jersey elections has been unreliable for many years.
Just Ask Jack Ciattarelli
In the election of 2021 (Governor Phil Murphy versus Ciattarelli), the final result was Murphy 51 percent and Ciattarelli 48 percent.
Ciattarelli maintained throughout the entire election that 2021 was a margin of error race.
Yet, the polls consistently showed Governor Murphy leading by a substantial margin.
Ciattarelli was right. The polls were wrong.
The Republican National Committee was snookered in 2021 and did not support Ciattarelli.
That’s not going to happen this time.
Fairleigh Dickinson Poll … Or, Is It “Fairly Ridiculous”?
A new Fairleigh Dickinson poll has just been released. It shows Democrat Mikie Sherrill leading Ciattarelli by a margin of 45 percent to 37 percent.
It was a registered voters poll and not a likely voters sampling. I will never understand why any pollster would choose to sample unlikely voters.
The Fairleigh Dickinson poll is often referred to as “Fairly Ridiculous.”
Here is a link to the FDU poll that was released yesterday morning:
Rutgers-Eagleton Poll
This poll was released on July 2, 2025. It showed Sherrill with a 20-point advantage over Ciattarelli.
It’s unserious and there is simply no way that this poll is accurate.
Bad Polling
Does a great disservice to the sanctity of free and fair elections.
It can discourage fundraising and voter enthusiasm, when it falsely appears that one candidate has an insurmountable lead … when in fact, they don’t.
New Jersey Election Polling
My advice is that you should not believe the various New Jersey polls. From Jack Ciattarelli … to New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina to New Jersey Senator Michael Testa … the polls are consistently wrong.
I don’t believe in coincidences. The polls are usually wrong and they always appear to skew in favor of Democrats candidates.
