HARRY HURLEY OPINION - EDITORIAL

The first Republican Presidential debate is over and the winner didn’t even have to attend and directly participate in the debate.

Without question, former United States President Donald Trump was last night’s biggest winner.

For inexplicable reasons, the major candidates who have held the lofty positions of United States Senator, United States Ambassador and Governor all attacked a neophyte, 38-year-old businessman with no political experience whatsoever.

Trump wins the debate without directly participating and this afternoon he said that “he will be proudly be arrested in Georgia.”

About his 4th indictment, Trump said on his Truth Social media page:

THE INDICTMENTS AGAINST ME SHOULD BE VIEWED AS A CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION TO CROOKED JOE BIDEN AND HIS RADICAL LEFT THUGS. THIS WILL BE THEIR UPDATED FORM OF CHEATING & ELECTION INTERFERENCE. REMEMBER, THESE ARE BIDEN INDICTMENTS, PURE & SIMPLE!

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had a very bad debate night.

It’s never good when you get roundly booed by an entirely Republican audience at the introduction of candidate’s phase of the debate.

It wasn’t the only time that Christie got booed. Christie was roundly booed again when he attacked President Trump.

Rookie Rivek Ramaswamy took Christie down when he said to Christie, “I thought that you were going to give me a hug like you gave to Obama,” said Ramaswamy, bringing the audience to heartily laugh at Christie’s expense.

This was a direct reference to the 2012 election, when President Barack Obama came to Brigantine, New Jersey during Hurricane Superstorm Sandy.

Many thought that Christie hugging it up with Obama dramatically hurt Mitt Romney’s chances to defeat Obama.

Politically speaking, the timing couldn’t have been worse for Romney, who had a good chance to beat Obama.

Sandy made landfall on October 29, 2012, causing devastating storm surge and property damage.

Electorally. It was devastating for Romney, coming just a handful of days before the General Election.

The Kumbaya moment of harmony between Obama and Christie was the end of Romney’s campaign.

The optic of Obama being Presidential and non-partisan with Christie turned into election gold for Obama.

Many felt that Christie could have accepted The President’s help, without the political photo op moment. The political insiders believe that Christie wanted Obama to win over Romney … because it opened up the ability for him to run for President in 2016, which he did.

Last night was a very bad night for Chris Christie. So bad, that Christie didn’t participate in the Fox News Channel “Spin Room.”

Fox News has been very good to Christie. It was a bad move to skip out on the “Spin Room.”

It was a great night for President Donald Trump.

It was a good night for Vivek Ramaswamy.

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was strong of foreign policy content.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis didn’t move the needle.

The trajectory for the Republican Nomination did not change last night.

That is why Trump was the big winner.

Today, President Trump will pose for the most famous mugshot in the history of the world.

Translation … as a result of the mugshot, Trump’s poll numbers and campaign finances will get yet another boost.

And, the news cycle for the debate will come to a crashing halt and all media outlets will wall-to-wall cover President Trump.

It’s 34 days until the next Republican Presidential debate, which will be hosted by the Fox Business channel.
