
Former Ventnor, NJ, Code Enforcement Official Is Going To Prison
A former Ventnor City, New Jersey code enforcement official is going to state prison for theft.
New Jersey Superior Court Judge Donna Taylor sentenced Michelle Calderon, from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

The Prison Sentence
Calderon was sentenced to five years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to Theft by Failure to make Lawful Disposition of Entrusted Property, a crime of the second-degree under N.J.S.A. 2C:20-9.
Calderon Will Have To Make Restitution
Calderon made partial restitution prior to sentencing interesting in the amount of $ 50,000. She will be required to make full restitution upon release from state prison.
Calderon was also responsible to forfeit all of the extravagant items that the ill gotten gains funded.
Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Outlines The Facts Of This Case
The case resulted from an investigation that began when Ventnor City officials observed a discrepancy within their financial ledgers. Upon reporting the incident, law enforcement observed that Calderon sought to personally supervise all cash transactions while working for Ventnor City's Department of Code Enforcement, which is responsible for building, housing, parking, zoning, flooding, and dumpster permits. Law enforcement further observed that, from 2021 to 2023, Calderon altered balance sheets and kept the money for herself. The amount of money taken exceeded $75,000, said The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
