Gateway Playhouse Lost Props, Costumes in Storage Fire

A fire at Sure Storage on Chestnut Street in Somers Point early Thursday that spread quickly throughout the two story structure did extensive damage and necessitated help from 17 local fire companies to contain.

The fire proved to be very costly to Somers Point's Gateway Playhouse. A Facebook post from Gateway Playhouse says the theater stored many of its stage materials in the facility.

For many years they have been the kind custodians our all our props, costumes, and scenery, not only for us, but also for Somers Point's schools.

All of our inventory has been lost today. We will need to figure out a way to rebuild and will undoubtedly need your help. As we work out a plan, please stay tuned and we look forward to your support.

Thankfully, no one was hurt today, but we lost the things we have to help us tell our stories. We will start again. We will need your help.
