Giant crane on fire in Gloucester City, NJ, close to Walt Whitman Bridge
A mid-morning crane fire in Gloucester City Tuesday resulted in plumes of smoke billowing over lanes of the nearby Walt Whitman Bridge.
Firefighters are reportedly still working to get the blaze, which started around 9:30 AM, under control.
Video from the scene captured by NBC 10 shows the base of the crane engulfed in flames as firefighters continuously spray water on the structure.
The large industrial crane is located near Gloucester City Terminal, according to nbcphiladelphia.com.
Amazingly, traffic approaching and over the Walt Whitman Bridge was not disturbed by the fire and smoke. At present time there are no reported detours or closures affecting the bridge.
There are no reports of any injuries of what sparked the crane to catch fire.
