No injuries were reported after a school bus caught fire in Camden County on Tuesday morning.

The Berlin Police Department says the scene unfolded just before 8 AM when officers who were investigating a crash on the White Horse Pike near Franklin Avenue were alerted that a nearby school bus was on fire.

Cops rushed to the scene and they found a small school bus with heavy smoke coming from the engine bay and out the back of the bus.

Good Samaritans and Police Jump Into Action

Officers immediately entered the vehicle and made sure everyone was out. They learned that before their arrival, several good Samaritans had assisted in helping one child, one adult passenger, and the driver get out, then fought the blaze with fire extinguishers.

The Berlin and West Berlin Fire Departments responded to finish extinguishing the fire while EMS crews verified that no one was hurt.

Police say the bus leaked substantial amounts of fluids, which may or may not have caused the fire.

Police Chief Thanks Responders

Berlin Police Chief Michael Scheer thanked those who responded to the fire. In a social media post, the department said, "quick action definitely played a critical role in the fact there were no injuries to report."
