Why did these department stores mean so much to us?

This is an easy answer for me. These are the department stores that we grew-up with.

They were so important because when we were growing up … these were the stores that we got all of our back-to-school clothes and supplies … They’re the special places that we have recorded so many fond memories.

We got our toys … our food … just about everything that affected our daily lives. It’s where our needs and wants were satisfied.

TWO GUYS WAS AN INCREDIBLY SPECIAL PLACE

My favorite department store growing-up in the late 1960s and early 1970s was Two Guys Department Store. It was located on the Black Horse Pike in West Atlantic City, New Jersey.

This iconic site is now the Atlantic City Police tow lot and operations facility.

We would also go there for any reason, or, no reason at all. Just for fun.

They seemed to have everything. If they didn't have it … you simply didn't need it.

One of our favorite things about going to Two Guys was the soft pretzel stand. It was located right by the front entrance.

Today, you can easily buy frozen soft pretzels, place them in the oven or microwave and enjoy them on demand.

Back in days gone by, it was one of the only ways to enjoy delicious, fresh baked, piping hot soft pretzels.

Here are a few personal photos of mine:

Take a moment, directly below are amazing memories (photos) about stores that operated for many years in the Atlantic City area and state of New Jersey.

These are the department stores that we all loved, that are now closed forever.

I promise you that this will be a fond walk down memory lane.
