Police in Woolwich Township, Gloucester County, say a head-on collision on the New Jersey Turnpike Thanksgiving night was the result of a motorist driving in the wrong direction.

The driver behind the wheel of a Nissan travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 2 in Woolwich Twp. crashed head-on into a mini-van carrying eight passengers around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to 6abc.com.

Reportedly, three of those mini-van passengers were hurt in the accident, and taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for treatment.

Amazingly, and as sad as this story is, especially on Thanksgiving night, no one was killed.

The New Jersey Turnpike in the area of the accident, however, was closed into the early morning hours on Friday as police mounted their investigation.

So far, there are no details regarding any charges the wrong-way driver of the Nissan may be facing, or the identities of anyone involved in the crash.
