We've been rooting for our kids in fall sports since school began. While it is fun and exciting to see our kids participate in sports, I always breathe a sigh of relief if they get through the game without an injury.
The highest rates of concussion in fall sports occur in boys football and girls soccer. Other injuries include tears, sprains, fractures and dislocations. These injuries can keep athletes on the sideline and even affect them after their sport has ended.
Fortunately, as parents and coaches, we can take extra steps to protect our children. This includes warms ups, and stretching and strength workouts, along with wearing protective gear.
