HURLEY NEWS BRIEFS AND OPINIONS FROM THIS PAST WEEKEND

A whole lot has occurred over the past 2 days.

HURRICANE IDA HITS LOUISIANA

Electrical power is out for all of New Orleans, Louisiana’s most populous city. Various news reports have confirmed catastrophic transmission damage.

Ida hit 16 years to the day that Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast.

Ida was a Category 4 level hurricane, packing 150 miles per hour winds … making it the 5th most powerful storm to hit American landfall ever recorded.

The projection is that Ida will damage 1 million homes and result in $ 220 billion in overall damages.

CALIFORNIA PAROLE BOARD VOTES TO PARDON SIRHAN SIRHAN

In Bizarro World, all things are possible.

With no objection by state prosecutors and with the backing of two of former Senator Robert F. Kennedy’s children supporting his release, Sirhan Sirhan was recommended for release this past Friday, after serving the past 53 years in prison for the assassination of Kennedy.

Six of Kennedy’s nine surviving children are now speaking out strongly against the California Parole Board’s decision.

Like most, they probably never believed that this could ever happen.

The decision is not final. A review period now begins and The Governor of California will make the ultimate decision.

Robert, Jr. and Douglas supported Sirhan Sirhan’s release.

Joseph, Courtney, Kerry, Christopher, Maxwell, and Rory have written that they are in “disbelief that this man would be recommended for release.“

The opinions of Ethel (93 years older), Kennedy‘s widow, and Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a daughter are not known at this time.

ANOTHER ANTI-VAX RADIO TALK SHOW HOST HAS DIED OF COVID-19

Marc Bernier has died, following his hospitalization on August 10, 2021.

Bernier had battled COVID-19 for three weeks. The Daytona Beach News Journal was the first to report the news of Bernier’s death.

Bernier worked in broadcasting for 46 years.

In one of his last tweets, he compared the United States government to Nazi Germany.

Bernier was on WNDB radio for more than 30 years.

It is tragic to see so many lives being taken in this manner … especially when so many appear to be preventable.

My belief in the importance of the vaccine remains unshaken and it’s now more important than ever.

LT. COL ALEXANDER VINDMAN IS CONSIDERED TO BE A “HERO” … WHILE LT. COL STUART SCHELLER IS FIRED.

It’s a tale of two Lt. Colonels. One is a whistle-blowing hero who received wonderful acclaim for trashing former President Donald Trump.

That would be Vindman, who received glowing national media coverage and full protection.

By comparison, Scheller was immediately fired for telling the truth about President Joe Biden’s disastrous and deadly botching, which resulted in surrender to The Taliban and the fall of Afghanistan, and the deaths of 13 United States Service Members.

Scheller directly called out Marine Corps Commandant General David H Berger, defense secretary Lloyd Austin, and White House joint chiefs of staff General Mark Milley.

Scheller is a 17-year veteran, who was just 3 years short of earning his full pension.

Scheller has earned the Combat V for Valor and The Bronze Star Medal.

This is no way to treat a military hero, who has honorably served his country.

ACTOR ED ASNER, AKA LOU GRANT, DIES AT 91

Ed Asner, best known for his role as newsman Lou Grant on The Mary Tyler Moore Show died yesterday.

His children wrote, “we are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel. With a kiss on your head - good night dad. We love you.“

Asner was a great actor, who was unapologetically very politically active and outspoken.

It should be noted that he did so long before most of liberal Hollywood began speaking out politically.

In other words, Asner did it at great personal expense and was not provided the cushy coverage and protections that the Hollywood elites are afforded today.
