Hurley: Tibbitt to Propose A.C. Mayor Salary Reduction
In a “Hurley in the Morning” exclusive, Atlantic City Councilman-at-large George Tibbitt confirmed on-air that he will be proposing a resolution to reduce the mayor's $103,000 annual salary to a lower salary, set at 7 percent above the city council president's salary.
The council president's annual salary is about $29,000.
By comparison, former Mayor Don Guardian reduced his annual salary by $40,000, each year for 4 years. He could have taken a $143,000 annual salary. However, the financial challenges that Atlantic City was facing were so significant that Guardian, working with City Council, gave back.
Gilliam was trying to raise his own annual salary by a range of $40,000 to $60,000.
