Incident With Barricaded Man in Lower Township Ends Peacefully
A tense situation that lasted for several hours that involved a barricaded man who allegedly made suicidal threats to cops ended peacefully Tuesday night in the Villas section of Lower Township.
According to the Lower Township Police Department, their officers responded to the Villas Liquor Store for the report of a domestic violence incident at around 7:30 Tuesday night.
In a press release, police said,
The victim told police that her boyfriend was currently at her residence, located at 22 Ellery Road Villas, NJ, and was breaking items in the residence. Officers immediately responded to this location and met with the defendant Raymond Stacy, a 53 year-old white male. Mr. Stacy began to make suicidal threats to officers if they entered the house and at that time, he barricaded himself inside the residence.
Officers set-up a perimeter around the home and the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team and the County Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene. After several hours, officers were able to talk Stacy into leaving the home. He was arrested without incident.
Cops say Stacy was eventually transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center. He has been charged with contempt of a domestic violence order, criminal mischief, and burglary.
