Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Chief Jim Sarkos has his agency focused on making The World’s Playground safer this holiday season.

The Atlantic City Police Department is taking both bad guys and guns off of the streets of Atlantic City with great regularity and success.

This focus is not only for the Christmas holiday season, as Sarkos has made this a point of emphasis to combat the growing perception - reality that Atlantic City is an unsafe destination resort.

When Atlantic City is right, you can expect more than 20 million guests to visit annually.

I recently spoke with Gary Musich, the President and Chief Executive Officer for Visit Atlantic City.

Visit Atlantic City is the quasi private-public agency that is responsible for booking meetings and conventions in Atlantic City.

They are spirited, hard-working and bullish on Atlantic City.

A fact that you may not know, Atlantic City has more meetings, conventions and room nights booked now and into the future than at any time before in Atlantic City’s storied history.

In order for Visit Atlantic and the casino industry to be successful, Atlantic City must be clean and safe. They can take care of the rest, as no one does it better.

Atlantic City is neither at this time, however, Sarkos has the Atlantic City Police Department headed in the right direction.

They are an outstanding paramilitary organization, with highly capable leadership and rank and file officers.

The biggest obstacle that the Atlantic City Police Department has faced is the state of New Jersey … which has short-changed them for years.

The Atlantic City Police Department is currently cracking down (with success) in high visibility problem areas.

The “good guys” are currently winning against the “bad guys” in Atlantic City.

But, there is still a long way to go in a never ending battle against violence, drugs, guns and other unlawful behavior.

Failure is not an option.

Here is a small sampling of just how great Atlantic City is:
