A Whiting man, who struck another man with his car in that man's driveway, has been arrested and charged for also leaving him there to die on Tuesday afternoon.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced Wednesday that Kevin Noonan, 62, is being charged with with Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Driver’s License while being involved in a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death.

Manchester Police responded to a residence on Yorktowne Parkway in Whiting around 3:45 PM Tuesday and found Jack Gotfried, 69, in the roadway "with traumatic injuries to his lower extremities."

He was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he later passed away.

Noonan was at Gotfried's house on Tuesday to pick-up some furniture Gotfried was giving away but as Gotfried was loading furniture into the vehicle, Noonan is accused of flooring it, pinning Gotfried between the vehicle and a truck parked in front of the house, according to the investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit and the Manchester Police Detective Bureau.

After striking him with the car, Noonan then allegedly fled the scene, leaving Gotfried behind suffering from significant injuries.

Noonan was found a short time later walking along Western Boulevard in Lacey, where he was arrested by an OCPO Detective.

He was transported to Manchester Police Headquarters, was processed and consented to a draw of his blood which was then brought to Community Medical Center.

Noonan remains in the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
