Ocean City's Air Show Weekend is one of my favorite shoulder season events.

This weekend's festivities mix vintage planes, skydivers, and stunt pilots with food, music, kids' activities, and, hopefully, more great weather at the beach.

Saturday's Airport Festival

Ocean City's Airport Festival at the Municipal Airport, 26th & Bay Ave., will highlight a ground display of unusual airplanes ranging from World War II planes to classics and warbirds.

The day will also feature plenty of music and food, coloring contests, face painting, and helicopter rides around Ocean City.

The festival runs from 10 am to 3 pm.

Saturday at 8 pm, the Parachute Pyrotechnic Show takes charge of the skies over Ocean City.

The skydivers from Team Fastrax will exit their aircraft at 6,000 feet and fly in formation with color-filled pyrotechnics exploding all around them as they descend.

The parachutists will land on the beach at 7th Street, but you should be able to see the action from anywhere on the boardwalk.

Sunday's Boardwalk Aerobatic Air Show

Sunday's Aerobatic Air Show is great, and, with Atlantic City's Air Show sidelined this year, it's the only airshow you are going to see over a beach and boardwalk in South Jersey this year.

The show starts at 1 pm and features more choreographed skydiving from Team Fastrax and the precision flying of David Windmiller's aerial cartwheels and torque rolls.

Rich Volker Air Shows are known for punching the limits of speed  -- both high and low -- and the Jersey Jerks are exciting formation pilots well-known in the Warbird plane circuit.

The Full Throttle Formation Team is a show-stopper flying in "Van's Aircraft" experimental aircraft.

Sunday's show is best seen between the 5th and 14 streets on the boardwalk.

Meteorologist Dan Zarrow is calling for partly to mostly sunny days on Saturday and Sunday.
