A 17-year-old man from Lower Township is facing numerous charges, including driving under the influence, after police say he crashed his car Thanksgiving night.

Lower Township Police say they responded to Breakwater Road and Route 9 just after 8:00 Thanksgiving night. When they arrived, they found a car off the road with a fence and a utility pole on top of it.

The driver, who freed himself from the car before officers arrived, was flown to Cooper Hospital in Camden for evaluation.

Police say their investigation as well as the driver’s statements led to a charge of driving under the influence. Additional traffic summonses issued to the driver include reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and disregard of a traffic control device.
